Killester craving Celtic cup win

The FAI Intermediate Cup hits the last 16 this weekend and Killester United will aim to shake up the history books and win the competition at the first time of asking.

The Haddon Park club made the brave leap across from junior football into the intermediate grade at the start of the season, but have taken the Senior Division 1B title chase and this competition by storm.

Their 4-1 dismissal of Wayside Celtic in the last round really got tongues wagging. Their reward is a home clash with Crumlin United.

Martin Loughran will know Killester have enough firepower to cause the Senior Division giants plenty of hassle, but the Blues should survive intact.

Verdict: Away win

EVERTON v ST PAT'S CY

Unchartered waters for the Saints as they make their first trip to Cork in the Intermediate Cup. It's vital that the Dublin side keep their heads. Everton have knocked Rockmount out of this competition and will be looking to avoid a trip to the capital. Verdict: Draw

CHERRY ORCHARD v MAYFIELD UNITED

The Orchard are on the march again in the Intermediate Cup and Paul Doyle's side should seal a place in the last eight. Mayfield are hovering around mid-table in the Munster Senior League and will be happy enough to take a draw. Verdict: Cherry Orchard

DRUMKEEN v VERONA

Verona have drawn their last three games in the league, but it has been in this competition that the Coolmine side have excelled. Ulster side Drumkeen are out of season, but any trip to Donegal is going to be difficult. Verdict: Draw
