Kevin's eye redemption
O'Fiaich next obstacle to glory
ST KEVIN'S Community College, Clondalkin, will look to take another step towards redemption tomorrow when they take on O'Fiaich College in the outstanding Leinster Senior 'B' Cup semi-final.
Runners-up last season, St Kevin's gained revenge for their final heartbreak when they knocked out holders Greenhills College in the last-16 and now have their sights set on a date with St Kilian's Deutsche Schule.
The German school booked their place in the showpiece before the Christmas break with a 2-1 win over Coláiste Eoin, Hacketstown, in Arklow.
Despite trailing 1-0 at half-time, goals from Edward McDonagh and Jessie Kamm gave Kilian's the win and they will be interested spectators tomorrow when Kevin's take on O'Fiaich.
Barry McCourt's side, from Dundalk, come into the game in good form following a 3-2 win at Monasterevin in the quarter-finals and some emphatic league wins since.
Following the 4-2 win over Greenhills, Kevin's dispatched Coláiste de híde 3-2 in the last-eight and manager Fintan Sheridan insists his new-look side are hungry to finally bring the title home.
"Because we maintained more attacking players from last year's team -- we lost most of our backline -- we have goals in us," said Sheridan.
"I think the lads get confidence from that and they certainly have enough drive and enthusiasm to believe they can go one better than this time last year.
"Obviously, they were satisfied to beat Greenhills following the final loss last year, but they certainly have retained more than enough hunger to want to go all the way this time."
