There are ten Men’s National Senior titles to be won on Friday night at the National Stadium.

With four Irish boxers already qualified for the Rio Olympics, and the possibility of more to follow, the healthy state of the IABA’s infrastructure was highlighted by the impressive turn-out for their inaugural High Performance coaching seminar in Dublin on Sunday.

A total of 150 volunteer club coaches from all over Ireland attended a day-long event at which acting Head Coach Zaur Antia, with Eddie Bolger and Dmair Dmitruk, delivered a coaching masterclass with the assistance of champions Katie Taylor and Olympian Darren O’Neill.

Psychology, nutrition, physiotherapy, personal education, child protection and club development were some of the lecture topics.

“Establishing a High Performance ethos at club level is one of our most important programmes,” says IABA President Pat Ryan. “We’re also planning regional centres of excellence.”
