Everybody's human says Serena's next rival

HEATHER WATSON will face 20-time grand slam champion Serena Williams for the first time at Wimbledon with the mantra "everybody's human".

Watson set up a career-first meeting with modern great Williams by swatting aside former world number five Daniela Hantuchova in straight sets.

Williams breezed past Timea Babos in equally-peremptory fashion with supermodel Karlie Kloss her latest superstar guest, to set today's compelling third-round tie.

The 33-year-old lauded "super sweet" Watson's sunny demeanour, while the Guernsey native said Williams' almost-unrivalled tennis record means she can add as many celebrities to her entourage as she wants.

"It will be a huge advantage for her," said Williams of Watson's home support.

"The home court will probably help her a little bit. It's going to be a great big match for us both.

"I've been used to playing against a lot of local people, doesn't matter what country it's in, and hopefully that experience will help me a little bit.

"I don't know her at all. I see her around the locker room. She's always smiling, so she seems to be super sweet. I know it's not going to be easy for me. She has nothing to lose."

Watson cannot wait for a first meeting with Serena Williams, having lost out 6-3 6-1 to sister Venus in Beijing last year.

"At the end of the day everybody's human," said Watson.

"Everybody's going to make mistakes, everybody's going to have good and bad days.

"She's done so well in her tennis life she's allowed to enjoy her life off the court a bit.

"She is big celebrity status. So yeah, she's living it up," she added.
