An Post to Rás again!

Christmas came early for the promoters of the Rás Na mBan with An Post delivering the welcome news that they intend to keep the wheels rolling for next season.

Also Ireland's premier stage cycle race for women will have a new base in 2013.

After five years in Kerry, the organisation has opted for a change of scenery.

The event will continue with six stages over five days and it will be housed in Ennis.

It has been pencilled in from September 11-15.

"We're grateful for the assistance of Clare County Council and Clare Sports Partnership in making a new base in Clare for what will be an exciting new chapter for the event," said race organiser Valerie Considine.

"We are delighted with the steadfast support which An Post has given the race and the extended support from Cycling Ireland."

The Beatles started a revolution back in the USSR

If ever a band has been well served by the literary world it's The Beatles. Practically every aspect of that revolutionary body of work has been dealt with in book form... or so one would have thought. From Hunter Davies' The Beatles, through Philip Norman's Shout, Bob Spitz's humongously detailed history and Ian McDonald's brilliant Revolution in the Head, which offered a musical and contextual analysis of every song they ever recorded, surely there's nothing left of interest to diehard fans of the Fabs. Well, think again.
