Ormonde's key as Syls punish Per's

dublin ahl3/4 round-up

St Sylvester's landed a major blow in the fight for promotion from AHL3 as they saw off fellow hopefuls St Peregrine's 2-15 to 2-9 at Broomfield on Saturday.

It was a powerful display from the home side who are level on points at the top of the standings with Naomh Barróg.

Martin Ormonde was the scorer-in-chief for the winners, hitting a most impressive personal tally of 2-6. At the back, Paul Christy in the corner and wing backs Kevin Clarke and Brendáin Flood also caught the eye. But in truth this was the ultimate team performance from Syls.

Peregrine's weren't helped by a nasty injury to Ciarán McCarthy early on in the first half and an ambulance was required to take him from the field of play. Declan Cody hit the net for the Blakestown men soon after to settle them.

But despite the best efforts of Seamus Mac Conamha and Mark Sweeney, the Malahide men proved too strong, with the likes of Alan Kenny and Kevin O'Flynn supporting the lethal Ormonde in attack.

CRACKER

Naomh Barróg still lead the way thanks to scoring difference after a 0-25 to 2-13 victory over Thomas Davis at Páirc Barróg.

In Rathcoole, Naomh Olaf came through a cracker with Commericals, eventually securing the points on offer thanks to a 4-14 to 2-14 victory.

Elsewhere, at Sean Moore Park, the game between home side Clanna Gael Fontenoy and Na Fianna was abandoned after a nasty head injury to a Clanna Gael player required serious medical attention.

In AHL4, meanwhile, St Brigid's continue to top up the division after a 2-12 to 2-7 result against St Finian's, Swords.

Centre-back McDara Butler was superb for the Dublin 15 side, with JP Costigan and Fred Lynham also cathcing the eye.

Tthere was little doubting the performance of the day, however, as Round Tower, Clondalkin obliterated Scoil Uí Chonaill in Clontarf, 4-20 to 0-6. It was a surprisingly easy win for the Clondalkin men, with Scoil firmly in the mix of the promotion battle and only two points behind their oppnents at the start of play.

Ballyboden St Enda's (2) and St Jude's also secured wins.
