O'Donoghue beats Murphy to claim his second Irish title

Brendan O'Donoghue from the New Institute Snooker Club in Nenagh beat Dubliner Robert Murphy of the Q Club Wicklow to win the second Irish title of his career at the Irish Snooker Championships in the Ivy Rooms, Carlow.

In a high quality final, O'Donoghue always had the edge winning 7-2. Earlier he had scored the tournament high break of 142 in his semi-final against former pro Michael Judge of the Q Club Wicklow, also making breaks of 101, 130 and 136 during the Championship.

In the masters final, defending champion Colm Gilcreest from Celbridge SC beat John Farrell from Terry Rogers SC in Dublin in a match full of drama that went to 5-4.

Wayne Doyle from the Q Club Wicklow won both Irish Billiards Championship beating Aidan Murray from Wicklow in both the long format and 150up format Championship.
