No slip-ups for big guns

ea sport cup

DUBLIN rivals Bohemians and St Patrick's Athletic eased into the last eight of the EA Sports Cup and avoided any slip-ups.

Bohs had gone a goal down at home to Longford Town, Aymen Ben Mohammed putting Tony Cousins' side ahead, but veteran Jason Byrne levelled for the Gypsies on 28 minutes, James O'Brien (38 mins) put them ahead and a fine Keelan Dillon goal (71) made sure for Bohs.

The Saints were deemed the away team at Richmond Park where Crumlin United were technically at home but Liam Buckley's outfit were right at home in Inchicore.

The sides were level after an hour, Sam Verdon for Pats (15) and Paddy Cannon (55) trading goals. But Pats gained control and won out 4-1 with an own goal from Ross Carrig, James Chambers and Verdon again.

An 11th minute John Mountney goal was enough to Dundalk to get past Shelbourne at Oriel Park. Last night's winners join Cork City, Shamrock Rovers, Derry City and Galway United in the last eight.
