Lambert: 'Grealish must wait'
UNDER-FIRE Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has told frustrated supporters that teenager Jack Grealish is not the immediate solution to their problems, writes AIDAN FITZMAURICE.
Ireland U21 cap Grealish has made four Premier League appearances for Villa this season but all as a substitute and the 19-year-old didn't even make the bench for Monday's 2-0 defeat to bottom side QPR.
A section of the Villa support at that game were demanding to see more of Grealish but, just as Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane have tried to do at international level, Lambert has tried to quieten the clamour over the teenager.
"He's only 19 years of age, and there has been a lot of things thrust on him," Lambert said.
"I rely on everybody, not just one lad, that's a big ask. He's not started a Premiership game.
"I've tried doing my best to manage him in the right way, that gives him a really good career.
"He's a talent, there's no two ways about it, a big talent.
"But he's got an awful long way to go, he's got to keep his feet on the ground, no matter how well he does throughout his career."
