Lady's Templeogue win on the doubles

badminton: Dublin U14

VICTORY in the two doubles matches gave Our Lady's Templeogue a narrow victory over Sutton Park in the final of the Dublin U14 Badminton Championships at Terenure Badminton Centre.

Sutton Park began strongly with a 30-20 victory in the opening singles from Alessia Osborne over Sophie Quinn. Orla Kelly fought back for Our Lady's to take the second singles beating Deeksha Majumdar 30-24 but Sutton Park then went ahead again when Ellie Forrester had a 30-14 victory over Ciara Campbell. Ciara O'Brien made it honours even with victory against Lucia Serra in the fourth and final singles.

So it came down to the doubles. Quinn and Kelly combined with some effect to beat Osborne and Serra and then Campbell and O'Brien beat Majumdar and Forrester to give Our Lady's the match at 4-2.

In the boys' first division decider, Ardscoil Rís beat Templeogue College 'A' 4-0, in a match that included three very close singles. After Mark Foley beat Colm Reardon in the first singles, Eddie Hogan dug deep for Templeogue, only losing 27-30 to Cian Boland. The third singles was even closer with Aadit Jater losing 29-30 to Tommy O'Brien. Conor O'Brien then wrapped up the match for Ardscoil Rís with a 30-23 win over Peter Nolan.

Div 2 winners were HF Clontarf (girls) and Terenure College (boys).
