Jewell gives up pursuit of St Ledger
IPSWICH boss Paul Jewell has admitted defeat in his bid to sign Ireland defender Sean St Ledger from Leicester City, writes Aidan Fitzmaurice.
St Ledger appeared to be on his way out of Leicester after a falling out with manager Nigel Pearson and the Foxes said they were ready to listen to offers for the defender.
But a spate of injuries has handed St Ledger a reprieve and he's due to play for them in tonight's Championship clash with Southampton.
"He's in their team now so, certainly for the time being, I can't see that happening," said Jewell when asked about a bid for St Ledger.
Jewell is still eager to sign St Ledger's Ireland team-mate Keith Andrews on a long-term basis from Blackburn Rovers, but Ipswich are unable to meet the demands of the Premier League club.
Andrews impressed during a spell on loan to Ipswich, but Blackburn have rejected their initial offer for the Dubliner.
