Irish kids will get a chance says Town boss McCarthy

MICK McCarthy has promised to give his Irish youngsters a chance in the Ipswich Town first team next season.

McCarthy's side will have a new look next term, and that should see Dubliners Adam McDonnell and Dylan Connolly get a run. Connolly was promoted to the first-team squad last season, while fellow Shelbourne product Adam McDonnell's progress was held up due to red tape.

"We've got some good young players here, the likes of Kundai Benyu and Adam McDonnell who we signed from Shelbourne," said McCarthy.

"The opportunity is there for them and it's down to the players."
