Ireland winger McClean is dragged into diving storm
JAMES McClean has been accused of diving and has been labelled a "cheat" by one of his opponents.
Ireland international McClean played a part for relegation-threatened Wigan in their win over Rotherham United last weekend, though the Ireland man sits out tonight's clash with Watford due to suspension.
The Derry native (right) won the free kick which provided the Latics with their first goal, but Rotherham were very unhappy.
"It's a blatant dive. He's cheating. That is cheating, I am nowhere near him and he's diving," Rotherham defender Kirk Broadfoot said of his challenge on McClean.
"Everyone can see I clearly jumped out of the way and he dived up. There's no more I can say about it. I'm nowhere near him. He's dived and it leads to their goal. It's disappointing to see."
Millers boss Steve Evans added: "It's not a free-kick. We have got the benefit of having looked at it and if people want to go diving around and getting free-kicks then Wigan are welcome to them."
McClean has been one of the star performers for Wigan this season and is their top scorer.
Also in the Championship tonight, Derby's Irish defender Richard Keogh has called for a big display against Middlesbrough. "It is going to be a tough game, Middlesbrough are a good side and we are going to have to be at our best to get another positive result," he said
