Ireland began their World T20 qualifying campaign with a seven-wicket win over Namibia at Stormont. John Mooney took three for 23 as Namibia put on 124 for eight in their 20 overs and an unbeaten half-century from captain Will Porterfield helped Ireland chase that down with 16 balls to spare.

Meanwhile, Joe Root again put Australia's bowlers to the sword and together with Ian Bell gave England for victory in the first Ashes test after setting the tourists 412 to win with two days remaining.
