I was over the moon for Kevin in the Mile
Yesterday's big race went the way of one of our veteran trainers, Kevin Prendergast (pictured, right), and I was over the moon for him.
Kevin is a real gentleman who doesn't have too many runners in bumpers, but I was lucky enough to ride one for him and it was a winner and he is a very easy man to ride for and he just has a lovely personality.
Yesterday's winner, Vastonea, has a great record around Galway, winning the same race two years' ago and finishing third last year, and Gary Halpin gave him a great ride with his seven-pound claiming allowance making all the difference.
It was also a great day for JP McManus who had a double, winning the first race with Shield for Aidan O'Brien and the second with Jacksonslady.
Barry Geraghty gave Jacksonslady a great ride and she has always been a real tough and honest horse, and I was thrilled for all concerned and Philip Dempsey who trains her as it was his first horse for JP.
She was third in the Galway Plate last year and was unlucky that the ground went against her but she deserved that.
