Rumoush ready to return Tregoning to the big time

If ever a Classic had a wide-open look to it, the StanJames.com 1000 Guineas is it.

An argument can easily be made for half a dozen in the Newmarket feature but preference is for Rumoush to provide a welcome return to the big time for trainer Marcus Tregoning.

A beautifully bred half-sister to last year's winner Ghanaati from the family of Nashwan, Rumoush had just one outing as a juvenile, demonstrating plenty of ability in scoring at Lingfield from two subsequent winners.

She reappeared in the Feilden at Newmarket's Craven meeting and convinced connections the Guineas should be the next port of call with a commanding victory over a field which included Oaks favourite Timepiece.

The tall Rahy filly has stacks of scope for further improvement, and we know Tregoning can definitely do the job when he gets the right animal.

Henry Cecil strengthened his hand in the three-year-old fillies' division earlier in the week and can add to his riches with Principal Role in the Haveago At StanJames.com Pretty Polly Stakes.

This twice-raced daughter of Empire Maker ran a really good race in the Nell Gwyn behind Music Show and Blue Maiden, and is fully entitled to progress again, not least for the extra three furlongs.

Strawberrydaiquiri sets a high standard in the StanJames.com Dahlia Stakes. It's very much ladies' day on the Rowley Mile and Michael Stoute's four-year-old is expected to play a big part in the top distaff events this year.

There are few safer investments at the moment than a Richard Hannon two-year-old, so Shewalksinbeauty should take all the beating in the totequadpot Fillies' Conditions Stakes at Salisbury.

Megalo Maniac is not the easiest to win with but having gone close the last two times it is not hard to see him taking a leading role in the John Quigley Memorial Handicap at Hamilton.
