Haxby has credentials to grab glory at Newbury

HAXBY can grab a valuable prize with victory in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury.

The Roger Varian-trained youngster has any amount of top form with a host of smart juveniles, most recently when fifth to American monster Hootenanny in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The winner was on a different level but there was not much between the rest and in four outings to date he has yet to run a bad race, dating back to his introduction second to Kool Kompany, who looks as a good as anything seen so far in the juvenile department this term.

Music Master arguably ran the race of his life at the Royal meeting and as a result takes strong Group One credentials into the Group Three Al Basti Equiworld Hackwood Stakes. Always a talented individual who moves well in his races, his career has gone to new heights since being tried at six furlongs, starting when second to the useful Tropics in a Group Three at the end of last season.

Provenance must prove a tough nut to crack back against her own sex in the Al Basti Equiworld EBF Breeding Winners Fillies' Handicap.

The Sir Michael Stoute-trained Galileo filly is a half-sister to Group One-winning Integral and looked useful herself when a smooth winner on the Kempton Polytrack in May.

At his best Al Kazeem would pick the rest up and carry them in the Doom Bar Stakes but he has to be taken on really on his first start since returning from an unhappy spell at stud and Nabucco could be the one to expose any chinks.

Criteria looks the safest option in the Newsells Park Stud Stakes at Newmarket.
