Fiesolana finds form to Bridge gap
FIESOLANA revelled in a drop back in trip to win the Coolmore Stud Fairy Bridge Stakes at Tipperary.
The William McCreery-trained filly found nine furlongs a bridge too far in the Kilboy Estate Stakes at the Curragh last month, but was in her element here.
Sent off a 9/4 chance to win her third Group Three of the year, jockey Billy Lee was never far off. The daughter of Aussie Rules made her winning move approaching the last of the seven and a half furlongs and gamely held off Sea Siren, the 2/1 favourite, by a length and a quarter.
McCreery said: "She's very uncomplicated and the main thing is not to take a pull out of her. When she shot clear she started to look around. She may go to Longchamp now on Arc weekend for the Prix de la Foret over seven furlongs as there isn't a lot for her here."
Orchestra (4/11 favourite) was earlier introduced into the betting for the Epsom Derby following his facile win in the Camas Park Stud EBF Maiden.
Jockey Joseph O'Brien said: "He's a nice, big horse. He travelled well and nicer ground after Leopardstown (second behind Free Eagle on debut) suited him."
