Dyname powered up for right Ripon

DUBAI DYNAMO can defy his advancing years with victory in the Ripon, Yorkshire's Garden Racecourse Handicap at the North Yorkshire venue.

Ruth Carr's charge is a 10-year-old now but he continues to acquit himself well, most recently when finishing a fair second at this track last month.

He has dropped through the ratings a bit of late as he has not got his head in front since winning at Chester last June, losing his way a little through the high summer months.

Dubai Dynamo thrives around this time of year and that looked to be the case again as he stepped up on a couple of moderate efforts to be beaten just over three lengths at a mile on his most recent outing.

He lines up over that distance again and given he is currently on a 1lb lower mark than his last winning perch, he appears to be in with a pretty decent shout of snapping his losing run.

BIMBO was edged out by a head on her return to action but can gain compensation for such a narrow eclipse in the C. B. Hutchinson Memorial Challenge Cup. A winner on her racecourse bow last term, Richard Fahey's charge could not quite match up to that in four subsequent starts, although he stood no chance on one occasion as she clashed with Tiggy Wiggy in the Super Sprint.

She largely raced a bit keen last year and that trait was still in evidence on her return from a six-month lay-off as she took a strong hold over seven furlongs at Doncaster. Bimbo did well to keep on for second that day and hopefully the run will have diminished her freshness a little, allowing her to kick on again.
