Hats off to Blues for new gear

LEINSTER welcome French giants Clermont Auvergne to the Aviva Stadium this weekend - but the fans wearing berets will be cheering for the home team.

The Blue Army will be out in force for the crucial Heineken Cup clash - and, as temperatures plummet, home fans can add the French twist to their outfits thanks to a new range of accessories on sale.

The Leinster Rugby store in Donnybrook, Dublin 4, has launched the range of hats, scarves and gloves, including a navy beret and a blue beanie hat.

"They're flying out," John Dolan of the Leinster Rugby Store told the Herald.

"They have been particularly well received. With the colours and in particular the blue colour, they are designed to match in with this season's gear.

"And then the beret gives it the French twist," added Mr Dolan.

The most expensive items include the beret and the two Leinster scarves, which retail at just €15 each.

The hats are priced at €12, while the cheapest of the range are the gloves at €8.

With more than 46,000 tickets already sold for the game, the new Leinster merchandise is being snapped up.
