young dubs on mission
IT'S going to be a busy day for Dublin's football supporters this coming Saturday as both the county's minor and Under 21 sides face challenges of contrasting importance.
First up in Parnell Park (12.30), Dublin's minor team will make their championship bow when they face Offaly in their provincial opener.
And minor manager Paddy Christie will be looking to get his side's title defence off to a winning start.
"We just need to go out and play to our best, starting with Offaly next Saturday and see where the season takes us," said Christie.
Later that afternoon in Tullamore (4.00), the luxury of a back-door does not await Dublin's Under 21 footballers when they come head-to-head with Tipperary in what should be a cracking encounter between two well-matched teams.
The Dubs have impressed sporadically en route to defending their provincial title but manager Dessie Farrell is conscious that an improved display will be required if Dublin are to overcome an excellent Tipperary team.
"They are a formidable opponent and I don't think anybody is under any illusions as to the difficulty of the challenge that lies ahead for us at the weekend," he said.
