Whelan the key as 'Mun move clear at the top

BALLYMUN KICKHAMS moved into top spot on their own as they registered a comprehensive 5-21 to 0-7 victory over Parnells in their Dublin Adult football League Division 1 clash at Páirc Ciceam last Saturday evening.

Jason Whelan was in superb form for the hosts, adorning an excellent individual display with 1-4 from play as Kickhams ran riot against their struggling opponents.

Karl Connolly maintained his fine recent form with another solid showing at corner-back while there were telling contributions further up the field by both John Small and Kevin Leahy.

In Saggart, Mark Vaughan was in inspired form as he helped Kilmacud Crokes overcome St Mary's by 3-10 to 1-10.

Ross O'Carroll and Ronan Ryan were especially strong in the Crokes defence while Vaughan added some pivotal scores alongside Liam óg Ó hÉineacháin, Dara Mullin and Barry O'Rorke.

Elsewhere, St Maur's recorded a noteworthy 3-12 to 2-11 win over St Sylvester's in Broomfield, St Vincent's beat St Jude's while joint leaders St Brigid's suffered a 0-15 to 0-13 reverse at the hands of Raheny.

In AFL2, Fingal Ravens' remorseless run at the summit shows few signs of abating after they won their 11th successive league match, beating Castleknock by 2-8 to 0-9 in Somerton Park with Derek Daly and Alan Casey finding the net for the table toppers.
