Wexford brothers end Down hopes
A brace of goals inside 70 seconds from brothers Naomhán (right) and Tiernan Rossiter set Wexford up for a five-point win in this All-Ireland SFC Round 1B qualifier at Innovate Wexford Park on Saturday.
Trailing by three points, after Jerome Johnston netted Down's goal after 15 minutes, Wexford bounced back with six unanswered points, three either side of the interval - and never looked back.
Captain Ciarán Lyng, with six points, impressed, while Michael O'Regan (0-3) and Ben Brosnan (0-3) also took fine scores from play.
Conor Laverty, Mark Poland and Donal O'Hare kept Down in touch, with just two points between the sides with 15 minutes remaining.
However, two quick goals cost Down, despite Arthur McConville pegging a goal back. Down were reduced to 14 men late on following the dismissal of Conor Garvey.
