U21 Jackies determined to retain Aisling McGing

THE young Dubs have been fitted with blue blazers. They'll be walking on the red carpet this Sunday.

It's the U21 Aisling McGing All-Ireland Championship final.

Dublin are the holders. They beat Meath in Clane last summer.

They are seeking their fourth title. They have been in formidable form this term.

They have recorded handsome wins over Meath and Cork. Those displays underlined the depth of young talent in the capital.

Manager, Gregory McGonigle, is well pleased with the offerings so far.

The side is captained by Carla Rowe of Clann Mhuire. The Naul nugget is already a well established senior performer. So are the imposing midfield duo, Molly Lamb and Sarah McCaffrey. They have been at the top of their game.

Last year's skipper, Siobhan Woods brings guile to the attack, where Rowe and Niamh Ryan impressed the last day against Cork.

It was an afternoon when the Leesiders never got a sausage against the determined Dublin defence.

In outstanding form were Muireann Ní Scannaill, Martha Byrne and Leah Caffrey.

And one of the highlights of that victory was the return from injury of Oonagh White.

She came off the bench early in the second half and she scored four tasty points.
