Super Sylvester's make leap to Senior
DUBLIN AHL 3&4 ROUND-up
History was made in Broomfield last Sunday morning as St Sylvester's clinched promotion when overcoming Naomh Olaf by 1-17 to 1-9 in their Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 3 clash.
The win confirmed that Syls will taste senior league hurling for the first time in 2015 and their promotion was well deserved after losing just one match from eleven this campaign.
A cracking goal from Collie Byrne was the crucial score for the hosts and there were also hugely valuable contributions by Kevin O'Flynn, Andrew Richardson, Brendan Flood, Killian O'Flynn, Graham Morris and Kevin Clarke.
On Thursday evening, Naomh Barróg enhanced their promotion play-off ambitions as they narrowly overcame Castleknock by 2-10 to 1-11 in Páirc Barróg.
Niall Ring produced a dominant display at centre-back for the winners and with full-forward Dean flood accounting for the bulk of their scores, the Kilbarrack outfit claimed a crucial win with debutant Seadhna Ryan immense at corner-forward.
In AHL4, Ballyboden St Enda's (1) continue to go from strength to strength as they enjoyed a 3-18 to 0-8 victory over St Mark's in McGee Park.
The visitors started brightly with Oisin Cannon accountable for their first three scores as they led by 0-7 to 0-5 at the break.
It proved far easier for Ballyboden after the break as they struck for goals through Fionn Maguire and Cannon.
Their advantage was increased through a glut of scores by Mick Griffin, Cannon, Alan O'Connor, Ross Cullen and Lorcan Mullaney while substitute David Gilheaney was extremely prominent when introduced by the Junior Championship finalists.
Meanwhile, in Ridgewood Park, Eoin O'Connor's personal tally of 1-4 helped St Finian's pip St Jude's by 2-13 to 2-10 with James Shelly, Dominic Harris, Ciaran Drumm and James Burke to the fore for the hosts.
