SEANIE JOHNSTON'S 'repatriation' to his native Cavan looks inevitable after informing St Kevin's that he will not be available for their Kildare SFC clash with Monasterevin in Hawkfield this Sunday.

Johnston missed the club's Championship opener back in May and would therefore still be eligible to line out for Cavan Gaels if his widely touted move home materialises.

The question now is whether Cavan management and his former team-mates will accept Johnston back into the county fold.

Manager Terry Hyland insisted he would "keep an open mind" when asked while Cian Mackey - yesterday named Opel/GPA footballer of the month for July - insisted: "I played with Seánie all the way up at underage and I gladly would like to see him back."

Meanwhile, Daniel Flynn and Seán Hurley - member of this year's Kildare U21 and senior teams - are set to have trials with AFL clubs this November.

PAUL RYAN'S Leinster final heroics have seen the Dublin sharpshooter honoured as the GAA/GPA All-Stars hurler of the month for July. The Ballyboden St Enda's clubman top-scored with 2-7 for the Dubs, securing a first provincial crown in 52 years and setting up an All-Ireland semi-final date with Cork this Sunday.
