EVENING HERALD DUBLIN SHC 'A' GROUP 1

St Jude's v Lucan Sarsfields

(Tymon North, Tonight, 7.30)

LUCAN Sarsfields have earned a place in Dublin's Boardroom. They are not all that far away from landing the big prize.

Three successive semi-final defeats, two of them to the High Kings 'Boden and last year by a whisker by Chiaráin's.

Dara Cunningham is a super keeper. Cronan Dooley, Mick May and Pádraig O'Driscoll are among those that keep all the back doors bolted. O'Driscoll has shown his versatility since moving to centre-back last term. Johnny McCaffrey is The Energiser man. Barry Aird, Peter Kelly, Peter Carroll, Tommy Somers and Aidan Roche provide polish.

Jude's are a talented crew. They play a nice brand of hurling, and they are learning from each outing in the demanding Senior 'A' sector. There's plenty of skill in the sticks of Neil Mangan, Stephen Larkin, John Ryan, Seán O'Connor and Ronan Joyce.

Championship Form -- Lucan Sarsfields: W2. St Jude's: L2.

VERDICT: Lucan Sarsfields
