DUBLIN SHC 'A': GROUP 1
Setanta v Parnell's
(Clonshaugh, Tonight, 7.0)
PARNELL'S caused a stir last season. They almost beat Cuala, and they defeated the Craobh. That result shook the chandeliers on the Malahide Road, writes Niall Scully.
Their impact confirmed the growing stature of the SHC 'B'. Last year, Setanta reached the final where they lost to Kilmacud Crokes. It was a wonderful advert for the 'B' competition. Setanta had overcome the seasoned Ballyboden in the semi-final.
Getting to the final secured their ticket to the big-time, and it's quite an achievement for a club who have been a long-time champion of the ash.
The Sonny (Padraig ó Maoilsteighe) days in Ballymun will skip on forever. Setanta are doing well in the AHL Division 3. Three wins from three games.
Parnell's have won one and lost two in the AHL Division 2. Last term, they just failed to emerge from a group that saw Cuala and St Vincent's progress to the quarter-final.
Both sides will be keen to make a sharp start, with games to come against O'Toole's and St Brigid's.
