Older McManamon back in Blues plans following recall
BRENDAN McMANAMON'S older brother of Dublin’s All-Ireland hero Kevin, has been handed a chance to revive his Sky Blue career.
Manager Pat Gilroy has included the bustling attacker in his 26-man match-day squad for Sunday’s Bord na Móna O’Byrne Cup semi-final against Kildare in Newbridge (2.0).
The elder McManamon was previously involved during the latter end of Paul Caffrey’s tenure as well as earlier in Gilroy’s reign, but he wasn’t part of the Dublin set-up at all last season.
It remains to be seen whether he gets a run-out against the in-form Lilywhites although his brother Kevin – whose goal inspired Dublin’s All-Ireland final comeback against Kerry – is liable to feature after an impressive seasonal opener against UCD last weekend.
KILDARE have recalled Pádraig O’Neill for Sunday’s date with the Dubs. In a display of intent, Kieran McGeeney has confined himself to just one change from the team that crushed Offaly, with O’Neill slotting back in at wing-forward to the exclusion of Karl Ennis.
