O'Flynn to the fore for St Syls
St Sylvester's produced an impressive performance when overcoming Kevins by 3-13 to 1-11 in their Dublin SHC 'B' Group 2 clash at Broomfield last Saturday.
The foundation for their win came through centre-back David McElligott and midfielder Kevin O'Flynn with the latter adorning an excellent display with a superb goal for the hosts.
Simon Owens and Collie Byrne impressed in attack for Syls, who confirmed their win through goals by substitute Martin Ormonde and Byrne.
In The Bogies, Shane Commons struck two late frees to help Naomh Fionnbarra eke out a narrow 1-17 to 2-12 over a battling St Peregrine's.
Dylan Owens registered two crucial points for Finbarrs in the first-half with John Bailey and Ryan Curley also adding vital scores while Commons also added the home goal.
St Oliver Plunkett's/Eoghan Ruadh registered a noteworthy win as they beat reigning holders Kilmacud Crokes by 1-15 to 1-12 at Silver Park.
The visitors had eight separate scorers over the hour with Luke O'Doherty, Paddy Curtin and Paddy Bergin all impressing while Cian Boland landed the all decisive goal.
Elsewhere, Ballyboden St Enda's, Round Tower Clondalkin and St Vincent's all enjoyed opening day wins over Naomh Barróg, Whitehall Colmcille and Naomh Olaf respectively.
