A GOAL inside the opening minute from Gareth 'Nesty' Smith set St Oliver Plunkett's/Eoghan Ruadh on course for a comfortable 2-12 to 2-5 victory over Thomas Davis in their Dublin Adult Football League Division 1 encounter at Martin Savage Park yesterday morning.

The hosts enjoyed a five point buffer at the break and eased their way to their second win of the season thanks to 1-2 by Darragh Brogan and positive contributions by full-back James Brogan, James O'Donoghue and Ross McConnell.

Plunkett's are one of just two teams with four points with Ballymun kickhams joining them at the summit following their 1-19 to 0-8 success over Templeogue Synge Street at Páirc Ciceam while St Vincent's opened their campaign with a 3-16 to 1-15 away win over St Sylvester's.

In Bray, newly promoted Cuala registered their first league win of the year with Luke Keating kicking 0-5 from play in their 0-13 to 1-7 victory over Parnell's.

The foundation of their win lay in the influence of their half-back line of Conor Mulally, Adam Hudson and Martin Cahalan while David McMahon and full-back Kevin Killion were equally prominent for the winners.

Scott O'Brien, Mulally and Michael Fitzsimons all pointed for the Dalkey outfit but Parnell's were offered brief hope with a goal five minutes from time before Diarmuid Sexton landed an insurance score for Cuala.
