Moore' room to improve in battle of Newbridge
KILDARE SFC FINAL REPLAY
SARSFIELDS v MOOREFIELD
(Newbridge, Tomorrow 2.30)
LAST weekend's original stalemate oscillated one way and then the other, but Newbridge's two arch rivals were inseparable at the finish and that explains how the bookies are now struggling to pick a clear winner for tomorrow's rematch.
So, where lies the advantage? Sarsfields will be delighted that they've no ridiculous minor/senior clashes this time around, so at least all their talented young guns are free to focus on the one prize. But they may privately fear that last Sunday - five points ahead entering the last ten minutes - was a glorious opportunity spurned.
Moorefield will wonder how they allowed Sars take over completely on the restart, being outscored 0-7 to 0-1 in the space of 19 minutes ... Ronan Sweeney's pivotal switch from attack to midfield helped turn the tide and it will be intriguing to see if Luke Dempsey now starts 'Roly' in the middle.
His charges look to have more scope for improvement and, if they find it, they can seal the deal. But this is no sure thing.
ODDS: Sarsfields evens, Draw 13/2, Moorefield 11/10
WESTMEATH SFC FINAL
MULLINGAR SHAMROCKS v GARRYCASTLE
(Cusack Park, Tomorrow 3.30)
THE last final pundits would have predicted earlier in the season - especially after Shamrocks suffered a 14-point trimming against the holders, St Loman's, in the group stages; or when Garrycastle were on the brink of crashing out back in August.
Both sides, however, have made eye-catching recoveries. The 2012 All-Ireland finalists from the Athlone suburbs have the experience and start as favourites, but Bernard Flynn's Shamrocks have already bucked the odds by drawing their semi with Loman's - and then winning the replay.
ODDS: Shamrocks 7/4, Draw 13/2, Garrycastle 8/13
