Mind guru joins St Brigid's quest for All-Ireland

CONNACHT club champions St Brigid's have turned to performance coach Caroline Currid in their quest to get over the All-Ireland finishing line, having fallen in last year's final to Crossmaglen.

Currid's contribution on the mental side of player preparation has helped to yield three All-Ireland titles in recent seasons -- Tyrone in 2008, the Tipperary hurlers in 2010, and most recently the Dublin footballers last season.

Now, speaking ahead of next month's club SFC semi-final against Garrycastle, Brigid's boss Noel O'Brien revealed: "You are talking millimetres to get over an All-Ireland final and win a game. This year we have brought in a few people. Maybe there is a bit more experience in the physical end of it.

"We have Caroline Currid, who was with the Dublin senior team last year. She has been tweaking things that maybe I wasn't doing. That has certainly helped, and hopefully will as we go along."

TIPPERARY face a Munster senior hurling selection in a charity game at MacDonagh Park, Nenagh tomorrow (3pm).

All proceeds from the game will be donated to Breast Cancer Ireland (admission €10 for adults, €5 for OAPs/students, under-16s free).

O'Neills have sponsored special jerseys for both teams featuring the colour pink which is associated worldwide with efforts to support breast cancer patients and promote research into breast cancer treatment.
