Meath strongly refute Leinster money deal

THE Meath county board have emphatically rejected claims that they were to be awarded a large sum of money from Leinster Council if they agreed to a refixture of the Leinster final.

The Royals disputed decider defeat over Louth was still in doubt up until Tuesday of last week, with Meath officials, management and players eventually deciding against offering a refixture despite widespread calls to do so.

It was reported that the Royals would receive a once-off cash windfall of €350,000 if they offered a money-spinning replay but Secretary, Cyril Creavin, has denied the claims.

"There isn't a whimper of truth in that," he stated. "I don't know where that story came from and I would totally deny it. It's totally out of order and I would be adamant about that."
