McGuire is the main man for St Maur's
round-up: Dublin SFC 'B' and AFL1/2
Conor McGUIRE struck a priceless 1-5 as St Maur's overcame Thomas Davis by 1-13 to 1-9 in their Dublin Senior 'B' Football Championship quarter-final in Rush last Saturday afternoon.
McGuire's goal after excellent approach play from the influential Davy McGuinness proved the game's decisive score with the latter also chipping in with two crucial scores over the hour.
The catalyst for the home win was provided by Luke Fletcher, who delivered an exceptional display at centrefield and he received valuable support from wing-back Kevin Nugent as Maur's booked their last four spot.
They will be joined in the semi-finals by UCD, who produced the result of the round when getting the better of Kilmacud Crokes by 2-9 to 0-8 in Belfield on Friday night.
Luke Kelly and Eoin Lowry netted for the students who dominated thanks largely to the efforts of Monaghan's Ryan Wylie, Pádraic Harnan, Oran Fitzpatrick and Matt O'Hanlon.
At Glenauline Park, an early goal by Mick Hallows set Round Tower Clondalkin on course for an impressive 3-10 to 1-10 victory over St Pat's, Palmerstown.
