WATERFORD boss Derek McGrath has expressed his devastation for Pauric Mahony, who will miss the hurling championship after breaking his leg on club duty at the weekend.

The 22-year-old hero of Waterford's Allianz League triumph sustained a broken tibia playing for Ballygunner against Ballyduff Upper in the Waterford SHC on Saturday evening, and is due to undergo surgery today. "My heart goes out to him - he's been a talisman for us really," McGrath remarked. "We're all devastated - not for ourselves but for himself."
