Lynch strike helps 'Barrs pip Parnells

Naomh Fionnbarra advanced to the Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 2 promotion play-off final following their hard-earned 3-10 to 3-8 victory over Parnells at Chanel last Saturday afternoon.

After a sloppy enough affair in which the visitors enjoyed the upper hand for the large part, Parnells inched ahead in the closing stages only to be denied by a late goal from experienced substitute Thomas Lynch in injury-time.

Once again, Eamonn Dillon's contribution for Finbarrs proved pivotal with the Dublin senior accruing 2-7 over the hour and he received valuable support throughout from full-back Patrick Whelan, centre-back Ger Doddrill, Gary McAuley and Ryan Curley.

The hosts remained in contention throughout with Keith Byrne firing a brace of goals for Parnells while Leigh Fogarty, Aaron Hurley and Sean Stack also impressed for the Coolock outfit.

The defeat marked the departure after eight successful years of Parnells manager Kieran Murphy, who was hugely influential in bringing the club through the leagues and claiming Senior 'A' Championship status, which they managed to preserve this year.

At the opposite end of the table, Ballyboden St Endas' relegation fears were confirmed as they narrowly fell to St Oliver Plunkett's/Eoghan Ruadh by 0-16 to 0-14 in Martin Savage Park.

In AHL1, Niall McMorrow and James Roche featured prominently as Ballyboden overcame Cuala by 4-15 to 2-18 with David Treacy impressing for Cuala.

AHL1: Ballyboden St Enda's 4-15 Cuala 2-18. AHL2: St Oliver Plunkett's/ER 0-16 Ballyboden St Enda's 0-14; Parnells 3-8 Nh Fionnbarra 3-10.
