Lethal Lucan impress as Larriers are left behind
Three first-half goals proved pivotal as Lucan Sarsfields comfortably defeated O'Toole's by nine points in their Dublin SHC quarter-final replay at Parnell Park yesterday afternoon.
Lucan could not have wished for a more positive opening as they netted inside thirty seconds as Kevin Fitzgerald fired home after a strong run by Alan Kelly.
The Larriers recovered well from that setback with points from Niall Arthur and Graeme Morris ensuring they drew level by the end of the first quarter.
However, their fallibility in their full-back line was exposed once again in the 19th minute as Fitzgerald turned provider to set up Eoghan Ó Conghaile for a cracking finish past Brendan McLoughlin.
Within two minutes, McLoughlin was again left helpless as Sean McClelland skipped past Paddy Carton before firing an impeccable into the far corner.
An Arthur penalty in the 36th minute that was deflected over the crossbar by Kevin Roche seemed to stall O'Tooles' momentum as Kevin O'Reilly added four frees in quick succession to confirm his side's dominance.
