It proved a tale of missed opportunities for Dublin as they fell to a 3-8 to 1-11 defeat at the hands of Laois in their Leinster Minor Football League fixture in Stradbally last Saturday afternoon.
After taking the lead for the first time with just three minutes remaining, the Dubs were unable to preserve their lead with the hosts striking 1-1 in the closing stages to complete a deserved win.
"I was happy enough with how the lads went, despite the result," said Dublin manager Paddy Christie.
"We learnt a lot about players over the past few weeks and it was another learning experience for all of us last Saturday," he added.
One player to make a lasting impression on the Ballymun Kickhams clubman was Donal McIlgorm with the midfielder securing a wealth of possession at midfield, and his aerial prowess was a feature of Dublin's display.
John Kindlon from Castleknock and corner-back Conor Lennon also showed well and irrespective of the result, the provincial league and Dublin's decision to field two teams was justified, according to Christie.
"It was the best preparation for us to play these games and it's important we gain access to competitive fixtures as often as possible.
"We're very happy with the effort that all of the lads have shown lately," he said.
