Keating sparkles once again as Sky Blues into semis
Leinster MFL: Group 3
A Dublin selection advanced to the semi-finals of the Leinster Minor Football League after their comprehensive 7-16 to 0-11 victory over a disappointing and out-gunned Westmeath in Killucan last Saturday lunchtime.
The win ensured a third successive win for the Áth Cliath team and they can look forward to a semi-final meeting with near neighbours Meath next Saturday week.
Once again, it was Ballymun Kickhams' Dillon Keating that grabbed the scoring honours with the corner-forward accruing 2-5 over the hour, after chipping in with 1-8 the previous week, as the Dubs dominated from the opening whistle.
Seán Caffrey and Conor Kelly were others to chip in with scores for a Dublin team that was handed a massive foundation at centrefield through Ballymun's Aaron Elliott and Ben Shovlin of Kilmacud Crokes.
Manager Paddy Christie elected to choose as strong a Dublin team as possible in this encounter with Offaly awaiting the Dubs in their Leinster Championship opener in Parnell Park less than seven weeks ago.
Christie was pleased to see clubmate Conor Kavanagh maintain his fine recent form with another strong showing at wing-back and on the other flank, the versatile Oisín Kelly also featured prominently with a typically robust and dominant display by the Thomas Davis player.
