Johnston poised for move to Kildare
SEANIE Johnston is on the brink of joining Kildare after submitting a transfer request to move to a club within the county.
Johnston has applied to join St Kevin's while his current club, Cavan Gaels, have confirmed that they will not block the path of their wantaway forward after a prolonged transfer saga.
First mooted after he was axed from the Cavan squad late last year, Johnston had tried unsuccessfully to secure a move to Kieran McGeeney's Lilywhites on the grounds of residency.
The Central Appeals Committee subsequently rejected Johnston's case, leaving him with a choice of leaving Cavan Gaels or giving up on his bid to play for Kildare.
Croke Park today received the transfer request and if they find no fault with the application and neither Cavan Gaels or the Cavan county board object, Johnston could line out for Kildare in their Allianz League Division 2 opener with Tyrone on February 4.
