Geraghty primed for Royal return
GRAHAM GERAGHTY has put himself in the frame for a first appearance in a Meath jersey in Páirc Tailteann for four years this Sunday.
Geraghty - who will be 39 in May - accepted a player/selector role from manager, Seamus McEnaney, for 2012 and after missing last week’s victory over Wexford, Meath’s former All-Ireland winning captain (1999) has declared himself fit and available for Sunday’s clash with Louth in Navan.
“I’m looking forward to the Louth game now,” insisted Geraghty, who came on as a sub in a challenge match against Cavan last Tuesday. “I have been working on getting my ankle right over the last few months so what I need now is to build up my fitness and get some games under my belt.”
“It will be strange standing on the sidelines as a selector while at the same time, I’m hoping to get on as a player. But it’s something I’m looking forward to. I’ll be saying to the boss ‘come on, give me a run’.”
