BALLYFERMOT DLS

ONE of our main fundraiser this year will be a night at the dogs. Last year was a great success and everyone had a great time, so we hope everyone will help support us again this year. We will be having our night out on Fri the 2nd March. Tickets will be €20 for adults and €10 for children this will include admission, race card, finger food and a bus to and from the venue. Then for adults only back to Chasers for a night of fun. Anyone interested can contact Eamonn O'Dowd on 087 2025 017. This week's lotto numbers were 8, 15, 23 and 24; no winner of this week's jackpot €3,500. The four €30 winners are Ken Winters, John Cunningham, Frank Cannon and Susan O'Callaghan. BALLYMUN KICKHAMS

TEAM of the week are the U13s who gave a superb performance on Sat from the U13s in the grading game against Crokes on Sat with a comprehensive victory. Best for the 'mun were Nathan McKenzie, Cameron McCormack and Ryan Grayden with four goals. The U13s play a challenge game for U13s on Mon against Garristown. Club membership for 2012 is now due membership can be paid to club registrar, Linda Dolan. If you don't pay your membership, you will not be entitled to order tickets for any Dublin championship matches through the club. BEANN EADAIR

A SPECIAL general meeting will be held at noon on Sun 12th Feb to consider a motion to adopt a new club constitution as set out by Cumann Luthcleas Gael. CLANN MHUIRE

ST PETER'S started life last weekend with three teams seeing action. The U14 and U12 teams had wins over Westmanstown Gaels and Skerries Harps respectively whilst the U11 side went down narrowly to Garristown. Intermediates play Ballyboughal in the Loving cup in Ballyboughal at 11am on Sun. Juniors face Round Towers Lusk in the O'Brion cup in Naul at 2.30pm Sun. TEAM of the week is our U15 footballers. Having struggled last year they won a very exciting div 2 opening game against Castleknock. CUALA

THE club strategy meeting takes place this coming Fri in Fitzpatrick's castle Hotel, Killiney. All club members and those with an interest in our future are asked to attend between 7 and 9pm. The first trophy of the New Year returned to the club on Sun, though it was a shield rather than the Mick O'Brien cup returning from Nemo Rangers. The U14 A's got off to a bright start, drawing with a Kerrins O'Rahilly's team. The lad showed great character to get the job done by putting up a 5-13 score against the Kerry side and stayed on to watch Nemo Rangers win their own trophy for the first time in six years with a fine performance. The juvenile boys were back in league action in the past week and special note is made of the wins recorded by the U13A's by a point away to Clontarf in their first outing at 15-a-side; by the U14B's who hit 7-8 past Ballyfernot DLS; by the U15A's who beat Fingallians by eight points and by the U16's who put up a score of 8-15 against Thomas Davis. Congrats to Clonkeen College who won their first Dublin Colleges A football championship last week. The side now goes on to a Leinster Final against St Pats of Navan. The annual awards night takes place at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire on Sat Feb 18th tickets are available now through the club shop and the games sections. CONGRATS to the ladies footballers on a magnificent start to league - setting the standard for our other teams. FOXROCK CABINTEELY

DUBLIN ladies senior team got off to a winning start in the Div 1 League, with an emphatic victory over Kildare. The club is represented by Sinead Goldrick, Amy Ring and Ciara Murphy. Club chairman, Pat Ring is also a selector with the Dublin squad. Pat is also coach of the UCD team who commence their O'Connor cup campaign on 14th Feb when they take on UUJ. A number of our girls are part of the UCD squad, namely Sinead Delahunty, Amy Connolly and the only fresher on the team, Niamh Collins. Congrats to Niamh Ryan who has made the Dublin U16 panel. GARDA/WESTMANSTOWN

PRE-SEASON picked up a gear last week with games against South Central div and Bunclody in Wexford. Men's training continues this week on Tues at 7.30pm and on Thurs at 8.15pm. The season starts next Sun with all Men's three teams are in action in the cup competitions. The intermediates are home to Kilmacud Crokes at 11am. Junior As are away to Kilmacud Crokes at 11am and junior Bs will play home to Ballyboden St Endas at 3pm. Good luck to all our teams for a successful season. Ladies training continues on Mons at Parkwest, Weds at Lucan and Westmanstown on Sat morning at 9am. The next committee meeting will be held on Tues 14th Feb in Westmanstown at 8pm. Westmanstown Gaels started the season with the U12s getting off to a great start with a win against St Jude's away in their blitz competition while the U14s started with a home fixture against St Peter's. KILMACUD CROKES

BEST luck to our U21A football and hurling teams in their finals over the next week. Mick Leahy's footballers take on Na Fianna in Parnell Park tomorrow night at 7.30, while the hurlers take on Ballyboden St Enda's in their final on Sat in O'Toole Park at 2.30. It's been a fantastic achievement by both teams and management to make it to their finals. Many hurling matches have been recorded, over the past few years, and these can now be bought on dvd for a very reasonable price of between €5-10, consult the hurling website for information on the matches that were recorded and how to order the game you want. The 9th annual Punchestown hurling fundraiser race day will be held on the 24th of April, all information and booking details are available on the hurling website. LIMERICK SUPPORTERS (Dublin)

SHANNONSIDE supporters in Dublin send their congrats to the Limerick senior football team on a fine opening to the Allianz League with a 1-9 to 0-9 away win to Leitrim. Well done also to the senior hurlers on a thrilling draw with Clare in the Waterford Crystal tournament. Mark Duncan, co-author of The GAA: County by County will be the guest speaker at the 2012 AGM on Mon 13 Feb at the Goat Grill in Goatstown at 8.30pm. The publication is part of the GAA's Oral History project and was compiled along with Paul Rouse and Mike Cronin. It provides fascinating insights into why the GAA has developed as it has in different places. Mark previously co-authored the acclaimed best seller The GAA: A People's History. A member of the Kilmacud Crokes club, Mark won an All-Ireland senior club football medal in 1995. New members more than welcome. WELL done to our U16 B footballers on a great start to their league by beating Ballyboden 15-15 to 0-3. Best of luck to our seven U8 football teams who play their first league matches for the club this Sat. There is a club table quiz this Wed at 8.30 run by boy's football section. Valentines night there will be music in the bar this Sat with Peter Mangan. Set dancing classes every Wed at 8.30 all welcome. The Nagarhope celebrity challenge match and magic show will be in the 12th Lock at 3pm this Sun, featuring Johnny McCaffrey, Bernard Brogan, Paul Casey, Paul Curran, Declan Carr, Joe Dooley and Martin and John Quigley amongst many others admission is free. Our nurseries for boys and girls born in 2005, 2006 and 2007 are every Sat at 1.30pm on our all weather pitch at The 12th Lock. THIS weekend saw the return to action of a number of our juvenile teams. Cu Chulainn U16s opened their league campaign with a good win over Parnells on Sat, final score 2-10 to 1-5. U11s had a good win over Naomh Mearnóg. It was a fantastic team effort with man of the match performances all over the field. Joe Gaffney up front contributed an impressive 4-2 reflecting the great service coming from his team mates further out the field.final score Man O War 6-6: N Mearnóg 2-3. Sun saw a spirited performance from Cu Chulainn U15s in a close match with Naomh Fionnbarra losing out 0-5 to 1-6. Man of the match Kevin Kerr hard luck lads. ONCE again a reminder that annual memberships are now overdue. Both teams played with great heart and spirit and with a bit of luck could have won both games. Hurling training starts back on Mon at 6.15 and it is important that there is full attendance on the first night back. GREAT to see action once more our U13 14 and 15s got off to a great start with good wins. Our U16s lost to Naomh Olaf's. Our club hosted Churchills from Kerry for the week-end and our junior footballers played them in a friendly game. Next Sat afternoon our U21s hurlers play Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh in the semi- final of the championship. A big support is expected in the "Bogies". A night to celebrate the young life of our juvenile player Conor Hickey will be held on Fri night next tickets available at club all support greatly appreciated. Limited number of tickets available for our St Valentine's night 4 course meal with music, Mr and Mrs competition and craic all for €20 a head. CONGRATS to Jack Hughes who was inducted into the ranks of Coiste na Seanna Gael recently. This is well deserved recognition for a man who has dedicated most his life to the GAA at both club and County level. Our juvenile section got their season off to a flying start with wins for our U13, 14, 15 and 16 football teams. Well done to all concerned. The U21 hurling semi final takes place at home next Sat. The opposition will be provided by Clontarf and the game commences at 2.30pm. We ask all members to come along and support Arthur and the lads. The adult playing season starts shortly. All players are asked to ensure that they attend all training sessions. Well done to Anne, Cliodhna, Denise and the Dublin ladies who commenced their league campaign with a win over Kildare. RANELAGH Gaels men's team get their season underway with a Murphy cup meeting with Kilmacud Crokes on Sun in Bushy Park (throw-in 11.0). The Gaels won this competition last year so manager Liam O'Hagan will be keen to get a good start at the weekend and hopes are high following an intensive pre-season. Training for the men's team continues on Mons and Thurs. Mons we are on Clan na Gael Fontenoy's pitch in Ringsend. Training starts at 8.30 SHARP each week. On Thurs nights we will be on the beach at Sandymount from 8pm. The ladies team will return to training on Mon, Feb 20 at Clan na Gael. THE 2012 season commenced with matches for our U12, U14 and U16 footballers. The U12s were the only team to record a win but the U16s did start with a draw. Well done to our U10 camogie teams who achieved their first victories at Gormanston yesterday scoring 10 goals and 3 goals respectively. Yes it's true, the Kerry senior footballers did have a pre-match training session on our pitch in Nevinstown on Sat. The players needed a pitch to do a bit of stretching and kicking. St Maur's GAA club had the Sam Maguire cup visit the club on Fri the 3rd of Feb where the cup visit coincided with the annual juvenile family quiz where a great night was had by all due to the hard work of Peter Monks and his team from the juvenile committee. A record 46 tables were full on the night with two families at most tables. An opportunity for club members to be photographed with the cup was arranged thanks to the efforts Derek Balfe and Leo Bissett who did a fantastic job on the night. The AGM of the adult football and hurling committee was held on Wed the 1st of Feb at 8 pm in the club house where a large attendance turned up. The new committee elected was Chairman Anthony Kelly, Vice Chairman Gerry Devine, Secretary Kate Mc Loone, Treasurer Colm Leonard, Committee Harry Rennicks, Ray Rennicks, Derek Farren, Mick Harford, Mick Moore, Paul Keegan. The club management and committee's wish to offer its sincerest sympathies to Michael Harford and his family on the sad passing of his beloved Mother. The winning numbers were 6, 18, 27 and 30. Our U11s played well in their first football match this year against Clontarf where Rory Mc Guinness was made man of the match. THE U8s had a wonderful win against Ballyboden Wanderers on Sat morning, fantastic team display special mention for Jack Keane and Ciara Doyle who registered wonderful scores. Congrats to Hugh on making his U8s debut. Thanks to Ballyboden Wanderers for the challenge game. The U10s played a very strong Ballinteer St John's team down in Marley Park on the all-weather pitch. Stars were unlucky not to come away from the game with something after a strong battling performance. The U12s had a fantastic victory over local rivals St Anne's in Bohernabreena on Sat morning. This was an excellent game from a spectators perspective with some outstanding play from Sean Roe, Shane McDonnell and Conor Kinsella. The nursery continues to grow and there was a wonderful turnout on Sat morning in St Patrick's NS. Nursery will be starting at the new time of 10 am from Sat 11th Feb onwards. The ladies team will have their first challenge game this Sat 11th Feb at 3pm in Glencullen against Ballinteer St John's. There was no winner of the weekly lotto numbers drawn were 3, 6 and 18.
