dubs must rely on minor miracles
With the senior hurlers and Under 21 footballers suffering disappointing reverses at the weekend, Dublin's minors will hold the county's interest over the coming weeks.
The minor footballers opened their championship campaign with a 2-11 to 1-9 win over Offaly on Saturday, with manager Paddy Christie recognising the room for improvement if Dublin are to replicate last year's provincial success.
"We'll be satisfied with a fair bit of what we saw but we certainly wouldn't be getting carried away with our performance because there were a lot of things that we can improve on.
"We had the confidence to feel that the chances would eventually come our way if we stuck at it and that's what transpired in the end," said Christie.
Christie's hurling counterpart, Johnny McGuirk, will hope for a similar result against Offaly as the counties meet again in Parnell Park next Saturday afternoon (2.30).
"Offaly are a physical team that work very hard for each other and we'll need to match them for effort.
"But the most important thing is that we concentrate on getting the basics and attitude right on the day," said McGuirk.
