Kilmacud Crokes overcame a sloppy start to eventually ease past St Jude's by 2-17 to 2-12 in their Dublin SHC Group 3 clash at Parnell Park.

Paul Maguire was the central figure initially and after he executed a glorious early sideline cut, he burst through the middle in trademark fashion a minute later to fire emphatically past Matt Collins.

Some alarming defensive deficiencies were apparent from Kilmacud from the outset and it was of scant surprise as St Jude's capitalised again, with Joe McManus the beneficiary with another composed goal finish in the 10th minute.

Suitably awoken from that shocking lapse, Kilmacud assumed control for the following ten minutes with Oisín O'Rorke adding three points in succession before Naomhán Ó Riordáin tagged on a score to leave three points between the sides.

Colm O'Callaghan ended a scoreless period of 16 minutes for St Jude's but late points from Oisín O'Rorke and Caolan Conway trimmed Kilmacud's deficit to 2-4 to 0-9 by the break.

Two glorious goals from Oisin O'Rorke and substitute Seán McGrath maintained Crokes' momentum in the third quarter with McGrath adding three cracking points in a lively cameo as Kilmacud booked their last-eight berth along with St Vincent's.
