CROKE Park's Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) are to redouble their efforts to get to the bottom of the incident in the recent Dublin/Armagh challenge match that left Ballymun Kickhams player, Davey Byrne with serious facial injuries.

No mention of the incident - which left Byrne in hospital - was contained in the referee's report, meaning the CCCC were unable to launch a full investigation after the issue went public last week.

And the CCCC have already examined video evidence of the game without shedding any revealing light on the matter.

It is likely that the GAA's disciplinary arm will now seek to speak to both counties involved in the match and Gavin's suggestion that Byrne and an Armagh player "had a frank discussion," may form the basis of their enquiries.

The Dublin manager said after Sunday's Leinster final win that Byrne would be available for his team's forthcoming All-Ireland SFC quarter-final on the first weekend in August.
