Cats possess unparalled ability to find a way

Like water, Kilkenny always find a way.

They found a way, in an immediate sense, to beat Tipperary a couple of weeks back when the evidence of the majority of the game suggested it might be beyond them.

And in a more universal sense, they find a way to absorb injuries and retirements and return with class and determination undiluted. Robert Maher and James Lennon were the stories of the day but it shouldn't come as a surprise any more that a player good enough to convince Brian Cody of his worthiness to start in a League match is good enough to boss it, too.

Ditto Kevin Kelly, the heretofore fringe forward who scored the two killer goals.

Galway, meanwhile, faded badly in Parnell Park against a Dublin who, for all their comfort in Donnycarney, were hugely vulnerable and probably unsure of themselves going into their game two weeks ago.

Stature

Joe Canning's half-time withdrawal due to the effects of a virus clearly didn't help but Mícheal Donoghue conceded afterwards that his team, burly in stature though many of them are, had been out-muscled by Dublin.

It's not beyond the reaches of possibility that Galway go nuts here, bang a couple of early goals and win because, well, that's what Galway tend to occasionally do.

The more likely outcome is that Kilkenny do what they normally do - find a way.

ODDS: Kilkenny 4/9, Draw 10/1, Galway 2/1

VERDICT: Kilkenny
