FRIENDS OF DUBLIN HURLING

THE elements played a massive part in our two defeats in the last week. Our U21s were so unlucky to have lost their game. They played extremely well and were the better team. The strong sun in our goalie's eyes was the cause of the final goal that cost us the game. The senior game was played with the high winds playing a big part. Winning the toss was crucial and unfortunately Galway got the nod and had the game wrapped up within 20 minutes. Our seniors have one more chance to get back to winning ways and we now await the draw. Members who renew their membership in June will be in a draw for 2 tickets to the Dublin qualifier game. Membership costs €20 for adults and €10 for juveniles. You can sign online at www.fodh.ie or send your money and details to Tom O'Donnell, Games Office, St Vincent's CBS, Glasnevin, Dublin 11.

ST MONICA'S

COMMISERATIONS to our adult footballers on their defeat to Ballinteer St John's in the JFC replay. Similar to the drawn game, there was little or nothing between the two teams with Ballinteer pulling away in the closing minutes of the game to secure victory. Final score: 1-10 to 1-7. Our U12 boys had a wonderful win over Templeogue Synge Street, while our U10 girls gave a great account of themselves against Scoil Ui Chonaill. This week is a quiet one on the playing field, with just our U12 and U14 boys' teams in action. The U12 hurlers are away to Fingallians at 12:15pm, while our U14 boys are away to Skerries Harps for 3:30pm. Hard luck to our valiant junior footballers, who were so unlucky to go out of their Championship with a loss to St Brigid's. All juvenile games were called off at the weekend as a mark of respect to Donabate's own Shetemi Ayetigbo. The whole peninsula came to a halt on Saturday to celebrate his life. We offer our sympathy to his family & friends, who miss him so much. We'd like to commend our U15 & U16 squads - along with all the Pat's players there - who represented the club so well in his Guard of Honour. Whilst Shay wasn't a member of the club, he played on both the DPETNS & the DCC GAA teams and was a pleasure to coach. Ní bheidh a leithead ann aris.
