Having beaten Ballyboden St Enda's in their opening fixture, the hosts struggled against the elements in the opening half as they trailed by 0-5 to 0-2 at the interval.
However, a fortuitous goal from Aidan Fields within minutes of the restart set them on their way and they built on their lead through scores from Ronan Clabby, the impressive John Keating, Eoin Walsh and Niall Dunphy. The visitors battled gamely to keep in touch but struggled to make inroads into their deficit as full-back Shane Holland and centre-back Paul McGrath excelled in their defensive duties for St John's.
CRAOBH CHIARáIN are another team to have collected full points from their two games as they recorded an impressive 1-9 to 0-6 victory over INNISFAILS in Balgriffin.
Robert Behan was rock solid between the sticks for Craobh, who also had strong defensive displays from full-back Adam Murray and wing-back Ger Mohan.
Ciarán McGouran kicked two scores before injury curtailed his morning's work but Chiaráin maintained their control through midfielder Philly Flanagan and three points from the game's most influential player Kevin Warren and 1-2 by Keith Ryan proved pivotal in their win.
In AFL6, CLONTARF'S midfield paring of Brian Forde and Ciarán McSharry played a key role in their side's 0-11 to 1-5 win over CUALA in St Anne's Park.
Forde kicked four points of his side's tally and with Eoin Stanley to the fore defensively, the hosts claimed the win with six points shared by Willie O'Connor and John Trainor.
Meanwhile, in Bohernabreena, the display of David O'Sullivan in addition to four points from Seán Ryan and a Peter Corry goal helped WHITEHALL COLMCILLE record a two-point away win over ST ANNE'S.
