All-Ireland club finalists, Cuala, were paired with Ballyboden St Enda's, Crumlin and Faughs, at last night's Dublin Senior Hurling Championship draw in Parnell Park.

Before the business got under way, leading county official, Mick Seavers, wished the Dalkey club all the very best for St Patrick's Day.

Last season, Cuala had to endure extra-time against Boden at the quarter-final stage before they overcame Lucan in the semi-final and Crokes in the final.

In a new departure, four teams were seeded in the hurling draw - last year's winners, runners-up and the two semi-finalists, which included O'Toole's.

Faughs have won more Dublin Senior Hurling Championship titles than any other club, while the other team in Cuala's group, Crumlin, are the only other Dublin club to have won the Leinster crown.

Meanwhile, champs, St Vincent's, will play Clondalkin's Round Tower of Clondalkin in the opening round of the Dublin Senior Football Championship.

Castleknock, last year's beaten finalists, will face a date against Templeogue Synge Street.

The senior football draw was divided into two pots - A and B.

One of the most attractive clashes sees Ballyboden St Enda's tackle St Oliver Plunkett's/ER.

Boden became the All-Ireland champs under Andy McEntee last March.

McEntee is now managing Meath, and they enjoyed a fine League victory over Galway last Sunday.

Plunkett's are now being managed by the legendary Dub, Paul Curran.

They have come very close to winning the Clery Cup over the last few years.

But for both sides, it is a most demanding first round test.

Ballymun will meet St Patrick's of Palmerstown, while another of the giants, Kilmacud Crokes, will play Erin's Isle.
